Here’s your chance to spread the word about your fishery or fleet’s achievements. Nominations are now open for the Seabird Smart Awards, so if you know someone who is making an extra effort to look after seabirds take a moment to nominate them.
It could be an individual, a crew, a company or organisation committed to making a difference for seabirds. Basically it can be anyone associated with fishing in any kind of role.
The awards are run by the Southern Seabird Solutions Trust. “We want to recognise people who are showing leadership and also to highlight the efforts being made by the industry to look after New Zealand seabirds,” says Southern Seabird Solutions Trust Convenor Janice Molloy. “Tell us who is going the extra mile for seabirds and we’ll get the message out.”
A prestigious event is being planned to raise awareness of the winners’ achievements. The last award winners met Prince Charles at Government House.
The nomination process is quick and easy. Visit www.southernseabirds.org or email email@example.com for more information. Nominations close 18th October 2015.
The Seabird SMART Awards are proudly sponsored by Sealord Group, Deepwater Group, Ministry for Primary Industries, Aotearoa Fisheries Ltd, Fisheries Inshore New Zealand and the Federation of Commercial Fishermen.
